Tolman was searching for other roles with a twist. In the year 2017, Tolman starred in ABC's Downward Dog, based on the Animal Media Group web series, It was canceled after one season. Tolman, who is a Twitter user, said that she earned "pretty amazing" results in the ABC Drama Emergence. It premiered in September of 2019, however, it was cancelled after one season ending on May 21, 2020. She was also a guest star on NBC's Good Girls.
