Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell works as a reporter for NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has a BA degree in English from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began her career as a reporter for KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in 1967. She was then a reporter for the CBS-affiliated WDVM-TV, (then WTOP), situated in Washington DC. After two years, she joined NBC News as a Washington reporter. In 1981, she began covering the White House, and in 1988 she was appointed the chief congressional Correspondent. Mitchell was appointed Chief White House correspondent in 1992 as well as chief foreign reporter in 1994 for NBC News in 1994. Mitchell was a panelist on the TV show Meet the Press and also hosted the program. She was on the panel during the presidential debates in 1988 with George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married Alan Greenspan a former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. In 2005, Mitchell was awarded the highly coveted Goldsmith Career Award for Excellence in Journalism from the John F. Kennedy School of Government as well as in 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) awarded Mitchell with the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition of her contributions to the protection and protection of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell started covering the White House in 1981-1988, both during Ronald Reagan's presidency. Her coverage included a variety of important stories like the Iran-contra scandal, the tax and budget reforms, as well as the issue of arms control. She traveled widely along with President Reagan to meet along with Mikhail Gorbachev.
